Artists of the Month for December at the Dayboro Art Gallery - David Hodgkinson and Carly Wagstaff

David Hodgkinson and Carly Wagstaff are the artists of the month for December at the Dayboro Art Gallery. David Hodgkinson of DHP Photographics is a photographer who lives in Oceanview, and a lecturer teaching Photoshop, which he uses for creating these bold bright images.

Carly Wagstaff works with recycled wood to create these wonderful pieces below and for the festive season has created a range of unique xmas trees, caroling mice and reindeer, all very reasonably priced.

Artist of the Month for November - Tim Harlow

Tim Harlow is Artist of the Month during November at the Dayboro Art Gallery. Tim is a very talented photographer who loves photographing nature and has on display many of his amazing photographs from his travels around Australia.

Artists of the Month - October - Dayboro Art Gallery

Pop in to the Dayboro Art Gallery, this month and view Elaine Holmes' and Martin Buckingham's wonderful art work.
Elaine is a long time member of the Gallery and works in many mediums including paint, collage and clay.

Martin works with clay to create amazing sculptures.

Janette Zimmerman, Grand Champion Winner, Creative Arts and Crafts, Royal Queensland Show 2010

Congratulations to Dayboro Art Gallery member Janette Zimmerman for her recent awards at the Royal Queensland Show 2010.
Janette entered five pieces in the 'Creative Arts and Crafts' section which all received an award - 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 1 third.
Janette won 1st prize for 'Rainbow Lorikeets' (Sold) and was awarded 'Grand Champion" for this piece! She also won 'Best Exhibit Open China Painting' and was awarded the 'Most Successful Open China Painting Exhibitor'. Here are some examples of her extraordinary work.

Jane Zadow is the Artist of the Month for September at the Dayboro Art Gallery.


Jane is a realist painter, drawing and painting in many mediums however her favourite is pastels.

Artists of the Month for August at the Dayboro Community Art Gallery - Warren Watson and Avril Towerton

Warren Watson and Avril Towerton are the "Artists of the Month" for August at the Dayboro Art Gallery.

Warren is a Brisbane artist who has been signwriting for the past 35 years which involves pictorial art, commercial design and cartoons. Warren enjoys experimenting with different materials to form rich, textured pictures with a glass like finish. Click HERE to see more of Warren's work.

Avril is also a Brisbane artist and who works in many mediums including oil painting and glassware. Avril's current display is of her beautifully designed glass work. Click HERE to see Avril's paintings.

Artist of the Month for May at the Dayboro Art Gallery - Robert Bradfield

Robert Bradfield is the President of the Dayboro Community Art Gallery. Robert is artist of the month for May, works in many mediums and has won many local awards and is represented both locally and overseas.

Artist of the Month for April - Dayboro Art Gallery - Trevor Ryan (Painter)

Trevor Ryan, together with Maureen Trueman (refer to post below) is artist of the month at the Dayboro Art Gallery for April. Trevor has won many awards for his artworks and looks forward to dedicating more time to his painting. Trevor lives at Closeburn and has been a keen artist since his early childhood. Below is Trevor doing an art demonstration at the Gallery yesterday, Sunday, 18 April. Many visitors came in, all thrilled to have a cuppa and some nibblies and chat with our artists.




Tevor enjoys painting the Australian outback, country scenes and old buildings like the one below situated in West End, Brisbane. His more recent works are of old style homes in Paddington and Red Hill, Brisbane, and these are proving quite popular.

Tevor also likes to work with mono prints, pen and ink and to experiment in the impressionist style. He feels that the inspiration for his works related to the years he spent travelling and working in mining exploration, Swedish American Line and Ansett Airlines.

The Gallery is open 7 days a week, between 10am and 3pm so please drop in and view all the wonderful art.

Artist of the Month for April - Dayboro Art Gallery - Maudie Trueman (Artist and Ceramist)

Maureen (Maudie) Trueman is an award winning artist who has been passionately involved in art for over 25 years. Being a painter and ceramist enables her to be very versatile in her work. Maureen was a founding member of the Dayboro Art Gallery, having moved to the Pine Rivers area in 1970. Maureen was at the Gallery all day yesterday, Sunday, 18 April, and visitors could come in and view Maureen's work and chat with her about her art practice.


Maureen's studies include 2 years Architectural Sculpture and USQ Toowoomba. Influenced both via travelling and her imagination, Maureen Trueman currentyly has works in England, Germany and Australia.

The Gallery is open seven (7) days a week so please come in and see Maureen's display.

Artist of the Month - March - Bruce Mercer

Bruce Mercer is artist of the month at the Dayboro Community Art Gallery. If you'd like to meet Bruce there will be a morning tea at the Gallery at 10am on Sunday, 14 March with morning tea will be provided.

Bruce has been creating his art since he was a young child and as a teen attended college and became a window display artist. Bruce currently uses acrylics, oils, mixed media and pyrography (burning wood) to create his wonderful pieces.

Some of his favourite subjects include wildlife, land and seascapes and sunset skies.
