This month at the Dayboro Community Art Gallery we have 2 members featuring their art, Avril Towerton and Judy Midgley.
Judy Midgely has been potting on and off for over thirty years and has successfully participated in many exhibitions in and her work collected in Australia, Japan and New York. Her stoneware works often feature many natural objects (grasses, feathers, seed pods, etc) which give an organic feel to compliment the earthy quality of the clay and satify her desire to recycle some of the beautiful objects nature provides. One of her favourite whimsical and fun things to do is to make fairies, elves and mushrooms - Judy says we all need some fantasy in our lives!
Avril Towerton is also featuring this month and works in a diverse range of mediums including oils, watercolours and designing and making glass jewellery (dichroic glass) and bowls and dishes (glass slumping). Avril exhibits in local galleries and has won prizes for her work at various art shows in the Pine Rivers area. Favourite subjects include landscapes (sea and rural) and capturing old houses and buildings as part of the landscape and history.
