Artist of the Month for August at the Dayboro Art Gallery - Beryl Marshall

Beryl Marshall is the Artist of the Month for August at the Dayboro Art Gallery.

Beryl became interested in drawing as a child growing up on a farm and while roaming the bush, she would pick wild flowers and collect interesting organic material. Landscapes and flora are Beryl’s main subject matter and she always travels with her sketch book and she uses pen, colour pencils, mixed media, collage and even smoke to create works on paper.
When her children were at high school, Beryl began art classes with the Brisbane Flying Arts School and was a member of The Half Doyan Group.
Women artists, Mervyn Moriarty and Roy Oorloff have influence her art and way of seeing/observing her subject matter.
Also available at the Dayboro Art Gallery are Beryl’s small hand drawings feature in her hand made books.

Artist of the Month for July at the Dayboro Art Gallery - Helen Hornibrook

Helen Hornibrook is the Artist of the Month at the Dayboro Art Gallery for July.

Since starting to paint 6 years ago Helen has become completely absorbed in her art to the exclusion of all else.
The most interesting aspect is progress - where she can look back and see improvement. Largely self taught, Helen has attended many workshops. Helen was a florist for many years, which she believes helped her have a good sense of colour, texture and design. Landscape painting is her first love, but she also enjoys still life, portraiture, and has won awards for abstract work as well at local shows and competitions.
Recently, Helen won a competition in the Artist Palette and was offered a commission to do a demonstration painting for a later issue .

Another Great Dayboro Day at the Dayboro Art Gallery

Some pictures from Dayboro Day last weekend, Sunday, 29 May 2011. What a wonderful day, the weather shined beautifully and the crowds were out.

The front of the Gallery where the Art Sale was set up. People poured in all day, I think all the members who volunteered for the day would testify that they were pretty much run off their feet all day!

The Trash and Treasure Stall was as popular as always with everyone looking for a bargain.

Lorraine busy selling the books and mags.

Warren cooking snags on the BBQ which was very popular.

Bruce set up out the front offering to draw portraits. Jane also set up in the gallery and gave a demonstration of working in pastels.

It was busy inside too with a heap of raffle tickets being sold and encouraging visitors to participate in the Artist Choice Awards. Congratulations goes to Bruce Mercer again this year for winning the award!!
